Schaumburg-based Lavelle Law announced that lawyer and shareholder Jennifer Tee has been appointed to the newly created role of head of diversity and inclusion for the firm.

“Taking a proactive approach to diversity and inclusion is something that Lavelle Law partners and shareholders see as our obligation,” said Managing Partner Ted McGinn. “We have a long history of inclusion, public service and protecting the rights of customers and employees, and we are happy to formalize this approach. Jennifer is the right person to guide us in our goal of expanding and further improving diversity and inclusion in our practice. “

Tee has been with Lavelle Law for 10 years and focuses his practice on litigation, business law, probate litigation and employment law. She looks forward to the opportunity to take on the new responsibilities.

“I am proud that our firm has been at the forefront of the issue of inclusion, not only for our employees but also for our clients,” Tee said. “Our world is increasingly aware of the respect and acceptance of people from all walks of life, but it is important that the statements of many companies are true. I look forward to putting our ideas into practice as a Diversity and Inclusion Officer. “

Lavelle Law is currently made up of 31 lawyers working in 18 practice groups. McGinn said that while the firm has always been mindful of hiring lawyers and staff from a variety of backgrounds, there is still work to be done.

“We want our staff to reflect the community we serve. Our senior lawyers have always played an active role in mentoring and training the next generation of practitioners in our firm, and as we become more inclusive and diverse, this provides a path for lawyers from all walks of life to succeed. “

Tee wants this to extend to the company’s customers as well.

“It’s important that anyone looking for exceptional legal representation feels welcome and that we have a culture that respects every client that walks through our door.”

Lavelle Law’s main office is in Schaumburg and has an additional office in the Chicago Loop. The firm was founded in 1989 as a unique law firm with an emphasis on tax law. The firm has added more than a dozen practice groups, including estate planning, business law, banking law, litigation, criminal law, immigration, divorce and family, commercial real estate and residential and legal advice. The firm has received numerous awards and accolades for its business success, its commitment to ethics, national recognition for its pro bono services and multiple recognitions for the charitable work it does in local communities.
